Made with the combination of freshly toasted black and white sesame seeds, these cute black-white sesame cookies are full with the fragrance of both sesame. To make the appearance more attractive, white sesame seeds are used to decorate the top of these sesame cookies.
It is important to press cookie dough until firm before shaping gently into a ball so that it won’t break easily when holding. It is not advisable to use only black sesame seeds for this recipe as black sesame seeds have bitter, mixing with part of white sesame seeds will make it tastes better.
The amount of oil needed will depend on the water absorption capacity of the flour you use. Thus, you may adjust the quantity of oil added according to the dampness of your cookie dough.

Black-White Sesame Cookies | MyKitchen101en
Yields: ⁺⁄₋ 120 pcs
Ingredients:
- 280 g black sesame seeds
- 140 g white sesame seeds
- 170 g icing sugar
- ½ tsp fine salt
- 260 g plain flour
- 60 g cornstarch
- 160 g vegetable oil
Other ingredients:
- adequate white sesame seeds (for decoration)
Instructions:
1 Toast both black and white sesame seeds in dry pan over medium heat for 6-7 minutes, until fragrant. Set aside to cool completely.
2 Combine cooled sesame seeds and icing sugar, mix well. Process in 2 batches into fine sesame powder.
3 Combine plain flour and cornstarch, sift through. Add in salt, mix well. Add in sesame powder, mix until combined. Add in vegetable oil gradually, mix into a dough. (Reminder: The water absorption capacity for different brand of flour is different. If your dough is drier, add in more oil; If your dough is wetter, add in more flour, until it reaches the consistency as shown in the video.)
4 Take out ½ tbsp of dough (about 8-9 g, use ½-tbsp measuring spoon), press until firm and shape gently into a ball. Top with white sesame seeds. Arrange on lined baking tray.
5 Bake in the preheated oven at 170°C/340°F for 20 minutes. (Reminder: The baking temperature and time are just for reference, adjust according if necessary.)
6 Set aside these sesame cookies to cool completely.
